We understand that some skin conditions may require urgent attention. If your concern is urgent, please inform our receptionist when booking, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Our staff will provide information on consultation fees, Medicare rebates, and any out-of-pocket costs at the time of booking.

REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT

Prior to Your Appointment

A GP referral is recommended before your appointment to allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for your consultation and any procedures performed.
If you have difficulty obtaining a referral from your GP, you may consider using an online GP service for a referral.
If you do not have a regular GP, Dr Shirato can still communicate with your chosen GP for continuity of care.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

GP Referral Letter (if applicable)
Medicare and Private Health Insurance Details
Relevant Test Results – If you have had recent blood tests, pathology results, or imaging related to your skin concern, please bring them with you.

Treatment During Your Consultation

Some minor procedures may be performed on the same day as your consultation, while others require a separate booking.

Same-Day Procedures:

Skin biopsies
Intralesional steroid injections for inflammatory skin conditions

Procedures Booked for Another Day:

Skin excisions and surgical procedures – After an initial consultation and formal quote.
Cosmetic procedures – As per Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) guidelines, all cosmetic procedures require a separate consultation before treatment, along with a written consent form.
